The Sumi and Chakhesang national workers of NNC/FGN led by Eno. VikiheZhimo, MidanPeyu, Sumi Region, FGN and Eno. T.S.Keyho, ShentaKilonser& Supervisor, Chakhesang Region met on October 11, 2012 at Yoruba village under the aegis of “Celebration of Brotherhood and Friendship”, Affirm and Commit ourselves to the following:
1. We affirm that, the Naga political reference is not only unique but it is historically rooted in the Naga existence as a people and a nation gifted of God Almighty. Recognising this fact, we once again affirm that our rights are embedded and enshrined as a divine gift and therefore, they are inalienable. The Naga political movement is a movement of self-assertion and a movement to be reckoned and recognised not to be bestowed by any force outside. It is about finding our rightful place in the history of political freedom and not a movement towards something that is obscure and undefined. We simply follow the path of history carved by the vision and aspiration of our forefathers who had in years past reckoned and envisioned a sovereign nation and ever since lived as free people and a nation on the foundation laid. It is within this premise that, we cannot surrender our rights to the language of convenience and accommodation. Therefore, at this juncture, we commit ourselves to the task of safeguarding the truth and the historical rights of the Nagas; to be alert at every turn of Naga political chapter, and to be vigilant and speak the political language of the Nagas.
2. Recognizing that our Naga national cause is a time tested struggle. We affirm that, at this critical juncture, collective wisdom and deliberation is a must. It is our common property and not a monopoly game that can be overruled by the rhetoric of the few but that, a concerted wisdom must be sought and the voice of the people must be heard. We cannot talk of an honourable solution when we do our patience not honour our own commitment. Therefore, in the light of what is brooding in the Naga political front, the two regions once again unequivocally commit ourselves that we will not stoop below the line of what has been set by our pioneers. We will not compromise our Naga political stance of sovereignty under any pressure, threat and circumstances. In this, we affirm that the Naga political cause lies with the people and that no force within or without can dictate our national cause for their personal whims and benefits.
3. In the light of recent upheaval in our Naga society, we affirm our brotherhood and friendship and as Nagas we must learn to respect each other acknowledging that our existence as a people and a nation is inevitable without the other. The ugly face of division among the naga political reference has become the mother of all division in our situation. It is time that we listen to the roaring voice of reconciliation and peace among us which we often seek to silence with modern language by taking charge as though Naga problem is the property of few effluents. This attitude and mentality which is never part of our Naga political ideology must be done away with once and for all. We affirm our oneness as Nagas through this celebration of brotherhood and commit ourselves to work toward gaining the trust and respect of others. We further affirm, that, Nagas are not divided by lines, boundaries and tribes. We should not allow ourselves to be destroyed by tribalism or any sort of isms that seems to so easily take over us. As such , we commit ourselves to freely embrace the other in the spirit of love and trust, and maintain the very fabric of unity and peaceful co-existence in our Naga society.
We humbly affirm and commit ourselves to the above statements and pledge ourselves to remain true and committed under the blessings of God.
