AFRF pushes for timely completion of Foothills Road Phase-I

WOKHA, NOVEMBER 18 (MExN): The Aggrieved Foothills Road Forum (AFRF) representing the Bhandari and Changpang areas in Wokha district has expressed concern over the delay in the construction of Phase-I of the Nagaland Foothills Road, and has urged the state government to ensure timely completion of the project.

In a statement, the forum said it has learnt of delays in the ongoing construction of Phase-I, covering the stretch from Doyang Bridge near Governor’s Camp, Liphanyan, to Merapani under the Baghty division. It appealed to the government to ensure that the work is completed by December 18, 2025, in accordance with the contract agreement between the contractors and the concerned department (Work Order No. CE/(R&B)/TB-VI/FH-Bty/2024-25/459-462, dated December 2024).

The AFRF said any further delay in Phase-I would adversely affect Phase-II covering the Bhandari and Changpang areas, which will connect to the Mangkolemba division.

The forum also extended strong support to the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) for its efforts to realise the project. It expressed hope that coordinated efforts with the NPWD, Roads and Bridges Department, would expedite work on the larger proposed stretch from Tizit to Khelma and ensure dignified completion of the project.
