After 5 days, Manipur reports new COVID-19 cases above 100

State logs 122 new cases, no death

Daily COVID-19 infections in Manipur rose above 100-mark on Saturday after five days of reporting below the mark.

The daily positivity rate also rose above 5% after nine days as it was 5.9% on Saturday.

The state witnessed daily infections below 100-mark since October 16 with the lowest single-day spike of 56 on Friday (October 22).

According to the latest bulletin of the state Health department, the state reported 122 new cases in the last 24 hours even as no fresh death was reported during the same period.

Adding the fresh cases, the infection tally of the state rose to 1,23,229 while the fatality toll remained at 1,907.

The number of active cases also rose to 961 as only 67 patients were discharged upon recovery on the day. The active case was dipped to 906 on Friday.

Adding the latest recoveries, the recovery count of the state rose to 1,20,361 with 97.67% recovery rate.

The 122 fresh cases were detected upon testing of 2,075 samples in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate of the day is 5.9%. The state has tested a total of 13,53,122 samples so far.

The sudden rise in the new cases was related with the surge in the fresh infections in the twin capital districts of the state.

Imphal West reported 54 new cases and 43 in Imphal East district.

No new cases were reported in seven districts while the remaining district reported below 10-mark.

On Friday, as many as 11,979 people were vaccinated against COVID-19, taking the cumulative number of doses so far administered in the state to 18,76,184.

Of these, 1,24,0395 were first doses while the remaining 6,35,789 second doses, the Health department said.
