Nagaland Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, addressing the National Conference on AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission in New Delhi on August 22.
New Delhi, August 23 (MExN): Nagaland Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan called for the specific requirements of the North Eastern hill states to be accommodated in the implementation of the AgriStack and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses during the National Conference on AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission in New Delhi on August 22.
The conference was attended by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, ministers and senior officials from the Union and state governments.
Addressing the conference, Yanthan highlighted Nagaland's progress in AgriStack and Farmer ID, while drawing attention to challenges arising from the state's terrain, traditional landholding systems, shifting cultivation and the absence of comprehensive land records. He also outlined Nagaland's priorities, including pulse seed security, region-specific crops, rice-fallow and Zaid cultivation, and stronger market linkages.
Yanthan appreciated Chouhan's initiative and commitment towards ensuring the effective implementation of agricultural schemes and programmes through critical review and close monitoring. He appealed for the specific requirements of the North Eastern hill states to be suitably incorporated into the missions so that they could deliver meaningful benefits to farmers on the ground.
