Agricultural products collection centre inaugurated at Ntu village

Peren, December 7 (MExN): A village agricultural products collection centre was inaugurated at Ntu village by Ringsanbo Zeliang, State Coordinator North East Rural livelihood Project a project Under Ministry of DoNER Government of India on November 27. The event was attended by village council, gaon buras, church leaders and women leaders. The collection centre, a project under NERLP is implemented by the Self Help Group Village Federation (SHGVF) with the supervision of District Project Management Unit Peren.  

Speaking on the occasion, Ringsanbo appreciated the efforts the women SHGVF of Ntu village in successfully completing the project. He said that women have proved without doubt that they can also take up bigger responsibilities beyond the four walls of their home. While emphasizing on the economic sustainability, he commented that the collection centre which is being inaugurated will go a long way in enhancing the economy of the village if utilized in a proper way. He also stressed upon the need to strengthen the health of the Self Help Group and the SHGVF to make proper utilization of the fund with proper and regular rotation of loan. The federation should act as micro financial institution catering to the financial needs of the village, he added.  

Acknowledging the role played by the SHGVF in timely completion of the work, Janthuiyang RK John, the Block Project Coordinator who represented NERLP Block Project Facilitation, commented that Ntu village federation had done a commendable job proving that they are socially empowered. He pointed out that the completion of physical structure is not the end of the project but a step towards fulfilling the project aim of socio-economic sustainability. He further added, when we are united impossible things can be made possible, that’s what is projected by this inauguration. He encouraged the gathering to take ownership of the building for the welfare of the village.  

The village council chairman while expressing his gratitude to NERLP, also thanked the land owner who donated the land for the collection centre. He appealed to all the villagers present to be exemplary and make the best use of the collection centre.  

The invocation was done by Tunchapbo Local Chuch Pastor and welcome speech given by Namziusiliu, concluded with Azailiu Rentta, Secretary Ntu SHGVF and benediction by Namtanbo Deacon Ntu Church.
