The Assam Rifles today organised a commemorative Bike Rally on the occasion of the 27th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas and paid tribute to the indomitable courage, supreme sacrifice and unwavering commitment of the brave soldiers of the Kargil War.

The rally was dedicated to Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous), a distinguished son of Nagaland, whose valour continues to inspire generations.

Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav flagged off the rally from Assam Rifles Garrison Helipad, Kohima.

Prior to the flag-off, Governor felicitated the parents of Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous) in recognition of their son's extraordinary sacrifice and service to the nation. Maj Gen H S Mavi, IGAR (North), was also present on the occasion.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation by Assam Rifles personnel, veterans, local motorcycle clubs, youth and members of civil society, reflecting a shared commitment to preserving the legacy of the nation's heroes.

The event served as a platform to foster patriotism, strengthen national integration and further enhance civil-military relations in the region.

The rally culminated at the Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse Memorial, Nerhema, where participants were received during a Flag-in Ceremony conducted by the parents of Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous).

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was thereafter held at the memorial, where serving personnel, veterans, local dignitaries and participants paid homage to the brave officer. Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse displayed exceptional courage during the Kargil War and was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second-highest wartime gallantry award, for his conspicuous bravery and supreme sacrifice.

The commemorative event concluded with a culmination address highlighting the enduring legacy of the Kargil heroes and the values of courage, sacrifice and selfless service. Mementoes were also presented to participants in appreciation of their enthusiastic support and contribution towards making the event a grand success.

Assam Rifles remains steadfast in its commitment to honouring the nation's bravehearts through initiatives that inspire patriotism, encourage youth participation and strengthen enduring civil-military cooperation across the Northeast.
