Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) SBI Foundation- Gram Seva Programme organized one day vermicompost cum entrepreneurship development training at AIDA- Don Bosco campus on August 4.

The training was organized with an objective to provide skilling and trainings to rural community to ensure better livelihood opportunities and to encourage self-employment by promoting small, cottage and local industries. It was conducted as a follow up programme for the exposure visit to ICAR for cross learning on March 19.

Meyiete Nuh, Entrepreneur & Director, Nuh Futuristic Private Limited specialized in trainings and operations, was the resource person. Nuh is currently building modern chain retail called Sappho Corner in Nagaland with six stores in Dimapur and one in Pfutsero.

After a brief introduction of his work and experiences, Nuh spoke on the importance of modern retail and self preparation for establishing business set up. The session concluded with words of encouragement and taking questions from the participants.

Dr Ch Roben Singh, ACTO Agronomy, KVK Dimapur, ICAR Dimapur as resource person, started the second session on vermicompost training. Dr Singh talked on the different ways for compost and Vermicompost and gave a detailed explanation on simple and easy vermicompost production.

Dr Lahar Jyoti Bordoloi, Farm Manager, ICAR, with his team, Nagaland Centre, lead the practical demonstration on vermicompost assisted by staff from the centre. The session was an interactive based session with questions from the participants throughout the training. The trainees had a practical session preparing the vermicompost pit by themselves under guidance of the resource persons. They were given worms for further production of the vermicompost in their own villages.

Altogether, 23 participants from four adopted villages (Khriezephe, Diezephe, Bade, Tsithrongse) under SBI Gram Seva programme attended the training.

Rev Fr TT Joseph SDB, Associate Director, AIDA welcomed the participants and the resource person for the day. John Pfokho, Project manager, SBI Gram Seva Programme anchored the training while Johnny Y Patton, Livelihood officer coordinated both the programmes.
