Guwahati, November 23 (MExN): AIG Hospitals Hyderabad & Downtown Hospital Guwahati jointly conducted the liver transplant of a 23 year old engineering student, Wasim Ali who had been suffering from Chronic Liver diseases for the past two years.
The patient’s younger brother donated a part of his liver. The ten hour surgery was held at Downtown Hospital Guwahati. The Doctors’ team from AIG Hospitals Hyderabad led by Dr P Balachandran Menon worked along with Liver Transplant surgeon Dr. Pranjal Deka who led the doctors’ team from downtown hospitals.

The most common symptom of liver failure is the accumulation of the fluid in the abdomen, a condition known as Ascites. Dr Menon said that liver patients should be on regular follow ups and undergo evaluation by the treating physician to prevent end stage liver disease.
