The Crayon Club of Mokokchung will be organizing the 2nd Open Air Rifle Shooting and Arm Wrestling Competition 2019 on December 19 and 20 at the Assam Rifles Ground, Mokokchung. 

The organizing committee of the event representing the registered club from Kumlong Ward, while interacting with media persons at Black & White Restaurant, said that the Air Rifle Shooting competition aims to discourage illicit hunting while the arm wrestling competition would promote physical fitness.

The air rifle shooting competition will be in the 0.177 caliber and there will be two categories—PCP Air Rifle with Scope for 25 to 100 yards and Air Rifle with Iron Sight Nitro/Springer for 15 yards. Both categories will be open, meaning there are no separate categories based on age or gender, the organizers informed. 

In the Arm Wrestling Competition, which will be open for right arms only, there will be three weight categories, including 55-65 kgs, 66 – 75 kgs and above 75 kgs.

Winners and runners-up in both competitions will be awarded cash prizes. There will also be an arms display by the Assam Rifles on December 29 as part of the event. 

“Nagas are inborn with shooting skills. However, we are yet to scale greater heights in the professional shooting discipline. Through this event, we encourage the youngsters to take up shooting in a professional manner,” said Nathan Ozukum, convener of the organizing committee. He also added that this event would add more fervor to the festive season in Mokokchung and hoped that interested people from beyond Mokokchung would also come forward to participate in the competitions.
