Mon, October 28 (MExN): Akato Chophy was elected the new Vice President of the NSCN (Reformation) on Saturday, October 28. Sources informed that he was administered an oath by NSCN (R) President Y Wangtin Naga at their headquarters in Mon. A ‘Resolution Adopted’ by the Council of Cabinet Kilonsers of the group stated that Chophy’s election to the position followed two months of consultations with senior workers of all regions, including the army setup, who then put in their “Trust votes” through “secret ballot.” With its UT-1 region previously, Chophy was made Vice President/Vice Chairman unanimously and will “enjoy power sharing” with the President of NSCN (R). It may be reminded that Chophy was a senior leader in the GPRN/NSCN before he suddenly quit the group in August 2017 citing personal reasons. The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Reformation) with a Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland was formed in April 2015, led by Y Wangtin Naga and P Tikhak.
