AKM orders immediate halt to proxy teachers in Mokokchung

MOKOKCHUNG, JANUARY 14 (MExN): To improve the quality of education in Mokokchung district, the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has issued a directive to all proxy teachers to immediately cease their activities.

In a press release, the AKM condemned the unethical practice of employing proxy teachers, which it believed undermines the quality of education and deprives students of their right to proper learning.

“We urge everyone to stand against this malpractice and appeal all the stakeholders to be vigilant and ensure that only appointed and qualified teachers fulfill their duties,” it stated.

In addition to addressing the issue of proxy teachers, the AKM also reminded government employees in Mokokchung district to be present at their designated posts during official working hours. The organization emphasized the vital role that public servants play in the progress and development of the state and urged them to ensure that essential services reach citizens efficiently. Failure to comply with these expectations would lead to necessary actions being initiated against the concerned officials, it warned.

Further, the AKM reiterated the importance of adhering to the Pupil-Teacher Ratio (PTR) as set out by the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009.

It reminded the directives issued by the DOSE that all private schools under Mokokchung District to strictly maintain the Pupil-Teacher Ratio (PTR) as stipulated by the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 for providing quality education and fostering a conducive learning environment.

Schools with high enrolment of students must ensure that additional classrooms are provided to accommodate the students in smaller sections, adhering to the following norms:-Primary level-30:1, upper primary level-35:1, secondary and Higher secondary Level-40:1.

These directives should come into effect from this academic year. Non compliance will attract appropriate action as per regulations set by the Directorate of School Education, the AKM has cautioned.
