The Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats (AKMWP) in collaboration with National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) co-ordinators, district administration and Zub Zub India today organized air pollution awareness programme at New Market Panchayat Hall, Kohima.

This is the ongoing programme for all wards within Kohima municipalities to generate awareness about air pollution and its links with waste management.

The National Air Quality Monitoring Program had identified 132 cities across India with alarming air quality index, according to AKMWP President Thejao Sekhose and General Secretary James Yanthan.

Kohima, despite being a hill station is amongst those cities requiring drastic and immediate remedial action before it goes over the tipping point.

This campaign is designed for stakeholders, i.e. Ward, Colony, Chairman, Secretary, Sanitation Committees Members and G.Bs to sensitise about the matter.

Similar awareness programme for Ward 11-15 will take place on February 16 at PWD Panchayat Hall Kohima from 8:30 AM onwards.

For Ward 16-19, it will take place on February 17 at Forest Colony Panchayat Hall at 8:30 AM.
