Association of Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKWMP) today handed over financial assistance to the 19 wards under Kohima District. The AKWMP said while acknowledging the District Task Force Kohima for granting a sum of Rs. 100000 (Rupees one lakh). Subsequently, each ward received a sum of Rs. 5300.
While no mention on the total lockdown extension was made, it appealed the citizens to exercise patience. “The matter is under consideration of the authorities, we will have to exercise patience. AKMWP is scheduled for a meeting with the authority tomorrow noon. We shall highlight the outcome of the meeting to the wards at the earliest,” it added.
With regard to procuring essential commodities, the association earlier informed that each colony are to identity one grocery shop however, with its shutter remained closed. Citizens requiring provisions have been directed to approach colony Panchayat and the panchayat may telephonically permit sale keeping in mind social distancing and total lockdown norms.
A colony leader in Lerie Chazou told The Morung Express that the above measure for enabling colony dwellers to procure essential commodities is being maintained and the financial assistance will be made in full utilization for quarantine centres and volunteers.
