Maligaon, September 19 (MExN): The four-day 72nd Men’s and 11th Women’s All India Railway Boxing Championship which got underway on September 15 at the Maligaon Railway Indoor Stadium concluded on September 18. All together 140 boxers comprising of 18 men and 9 women internationals participated in the Championship including Arjun awardees Monoj Kumar and Mandeep Jangra. General Manager of the North East Frontier Railway, Chahatey Ram gave away the prizes to the champions at the concluding ceremony. North Western Railway annexed the Women team championship with 17 points edging home team NFR which had 16 points from winning four gold, one silver and one best loser of the championship. In the Men’s event, Northern Railway emerged as team champions beating Central Railway to 2nd place. NFR’s lady pugilists Minu Basumatary, Rumi Gogoi, Nomita Kachari, and Bhagyabati Kachari won gold in their respective category while Jahnabi Gogoi won silver medal in the meet.
