All Nagaland Inter College Basketball Tourney begins

Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): Incessant rain failed to dampen spirits of young ballers representing different colleges of the state as the All Nagaland Inter College Basketball Tourney got off to a blistering start with eight matches played on the opening day (June 14).

The event is being sponsored by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, and hosted by the Dimapur District Basketball Association (DDBA) at the JV Rise Basketball Court, Dimapur.

The tourney started earlier in the morning with the  women teams of Kohima Science College and Unity College, Dimapur taking the court for the first match. Pouring rains delayed the proceedings but the organizers wasted no time in drying up the court and restarting the matches.

10 colleges in the Men's category and four colleges in the Women's Category are taking part in the tourney. The first leg of matches will be league round, and thereafter the qualifying teams will contest in the knockout rounds. The finals are slated to be played on June 16, if rains don't play spoil sport.
