All signatories of Agreements should give sanctity to historic documents: NGBF

Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): The Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF) has appealed the Naga people and the Naga Political “to leave the past behind and concentrate on the present to design and invent a new Nagaland and other Naga areas.”
In a press release on July 29, the NGBF acknowledged the “political sagacity” of both the Naga political groups and the Interlocutor, Government of India (GOI), in working out an honorable and acceptable political arrangement to meet the political aspirations and urges of the Naga people.
It also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015 is “historical and a milestone in the Naga political struggle,” represents the voice and opinion of the GOI. Further, the signing of the Preamble (Agreed Position) on November 17, 2017, between the Working Committee of seven Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs), “recognised the political and historical rights of the Nagas to self determine their future in consonance with their distinct identity,” it said.
“Therefore, all the signatories of the Agreements should give sanctity to the historic documents,” the release stated.
The NGBF is of the opinion that while drawing of their agreements, all entities have done in-depth practical evaluation of various aspects of the unresolved political problem, it said while expressing gratitude to the signatories.
“It is time to leave the past behind and concentrate on the present to design and invent a new Nagaland and other Naga areas,” it said.
Meanwhile, the NGBF had a meeting with the Governor and interlocutor to Naga Peace Talks, RN Ravi at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, on July 28. According to an update on the Raj Bhavan’s official Twitter handle, the NGBF reiterated their position to conclude forthwith the peace negotiation with whatever has been agreed, during the meeting.
“The remaining issues, if any, to be pursued through peaceful democratic process,” it added.
