Alobo Naga has released ‘Ningu Kümtsü’ (All of Us) a classic remake, in a jazz mood, of the legendary song by Rocky & Group on August 31.
Rocky was one of the most influential singers during 1970s and his talent and influence is still felt long after his tragic death. Considered one the first Naga music stars, he was the front man/lead singer of the band Rocky & Group in the 1970s. The group was very famous and popular; and was even flown in by helicopters to perform shows all over India.
By profession, Rocky was a soldier in the Great Naga Battalion — Border Security Force (BSF) and was posted at Satakha, a small town under Zunheboto District.
‘Ningu Kümtsü’ is one of his legendary hit songs. The song talks about how we are all destined to die; and our earthly possessions cannot bring salvation of the soul. This song was and is loved and sung all across the Sümi land.
While paying tribute to this legendary singer, Alobo’s remake of the song is dedicated to the old souls to reminiscent and for the young to get introduced to this wonderful music.
One Interesting thing was the entire music video was shot in one take using iPhoneX by Toshi Longchar. Alem Alia of Tribes Music made the music.
One can watch the video from Alobo Naga’s YouTube channel.
