Ambulance service for Tesophenyu PHC launched

Parliamentary Secretary for PWD (Housing) Er Levi Rengma today flagged off an ambulance service for Primary Health Centre, Tesophenyu under Tseminyu Sub Division of Kohima district. Er. Levi donated this ambulance to PHC Tesophenyu under Local Area Development Fund.  

Dedicating this ambulance to people of Tesophenyu group, Er Levi said that he donated this ambulance as per the desire of the villagers. He maintained that through this service life can also be saved as in the past there were report of lost of lives due to absence of such facility. He told the villagers that due to lack of adequate facility at PHC Tesophenyu many people compel to go to nearest hospitals at Tseminyu, Wokha and Kohima and faced hardship in hiring vehicles.  

He was optimistic that the provided ambulance would go a long way in benefiting the populace and people will make the best use of it. The Parliamentary Secretary also wishes to see that it operates 24 hours.  

Also visiting the PHC Tesophenyu, the parliamentary secretary assured to take up upgradation of this PHC provided sufficient land is made available.  

Dr. Tinenlo James, SMO, Tseminyu thanked Er. Levi for providing such facility, adding that it was a big morale booster for medical fraternity under Tseminyu sub division.  

Dr. Shasinle also thanked Er. Levi for showing his concern toward the welfare of the people by providing such facility and hoped that the people will benefit a lot from it.  

The ambulance will be under the care of HCMC of Tesophenyu PHC. Patient can avail the service for referral on the advice of the medical officer. It can be used for referral to facilities under Tseminyu Division, NHAK and Wokha district hospital. Ambulance facility can be used for pregnant women for delivery in health centres and sick infants under JSY and JSSK scheme, on VHND programme. It can also be used for transportation of emergency medicines and vaccines.  

Earlier, Gwachung Chung, president TGPU and Agwalo Mesung, head GB Tesophenyu also spoke on the occasion. The function was chaired by Tesophenyu village council chairman NR Magh. ADC Tseminyu Theodore Yanthan, government officials, GBs and village elders also present at the function.
