AMEUW to continue ‘democratic protest’

DIMAPUR, JUNE 26 (MExN): The Aggrieved Medical Employees Union Wokha (AMEUW), under the establishment of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha has continued its protest into the third day by locking the Office of the CMO Wokha. A press note by the President of the AMEUW, Thungjanbeni Lotha and its Secretary, Lumdemo Lotha informed that the protest has continued despite request from the DC Wokha to call off the agitation. The note said that five members from AMEU Wokha along with four Members from Mokokchung met the Commissioner and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare, on his invitation on June 26 “but nothing concrete came out of the meeting.” The Commissioner and Secretary informed the aggrieved members that the Chief Secretary of Nagaland has convened a meeting on June 29 to discuss the issue. The AMEUW stated that it would continue with their democratic protest till it receives firm and positive signal from the government.
