I would like to bring your kind notice about the deplorable conditions of roads linking Mokokchung district to Mon via Tamlu- Wakching and Naganimora- Tuli. It was during an official visit to Mon that the college inspection team had the privilege of going to Mon for inspection of Wangkhao College via Tamlu- Wakching road and on return via Naganimora- Tuli, it was discovered to our surprise that both the roads were properly black topped but there was complete lack of maintenance. Bushes and small plants have grown on both side of the block top, small culverts are either broken or have been washed away, water logging and ditches are in plenty, making the roads unsafe and dangerous.
On the other hand, people of Mon district are traveling to other districts of Nagaland only through Assam. It is difficult to understand why we neglect and abandon such roads linking Mon district with rest of the state and compel our people to go through another state encountering many undesirable police harassment, public bandh etc.
In view of the above, I strongly urge the minister and the public leaders of Mon district to take up the issue of restoring and improving the existing roads for the public interest which will open up trade and other economic facilities for bordering people of the districts. It is high time for the Government of Nagaland to complete a link road from Dimapur to Tizit without further delay in the interest of its citizens.
Naga travelers to Dimapur and Kohima and vice- versa through Assam are put to untold hardships because of regular bandhs and ethnic war especially along Karbi Anglong area. Can we expect a safe road to travel anywhere within the state at least after 43 years of statehood?
