ANATG denounces agreement with govt;  Hunger strike and agitation continues

Despite an agreement being signed between the government and the ANATG representatives, the All Nagaland Ad-hoc Teachers' Group (ANATG 2015) has decided to continue with its hunger strike and agitation. 

Following the agreement on September 30, the general members of the group have rejected the proposal of government to form a High Powered Committee (HPC). 

Sources informed of diverse opinions in today's discussion with some units accepting the proposal while some opposed it ‘tooth and nail.’ 

Following the fiasco, three of the ANATG central team members comprising of the president, joint secretary and spokesperson have tendered their resignation on 'moral ground’ which was declined by the group. 

Former spokesperson, Bendang Ozukum informed that the general members of the group have decided to denounce the agreement inked on September 30.

He further informed that the two women and one male teacher who were on hunger strike have been reportedly hospitalized today. Earlier on September 30, two women took ill wherein one was hospitalized and another was taken home. 

It may be mentioned that the ANATG silent sit-in protest followed by hunger strike on September 30 has entered into the sixth day.
