Dimapur, October 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) on Saturday stated that the government should take immediate measures to regularize the service of the 1,166 teachers under the All Nagaland Ad-hoc Teachers Group (ANATG)-2015 Batch.
Extending solidarity to the teachers who have been protesting in Kohima since September 26, the NPYC stated that it was disheartened to learn that the teachers, “despite having appeared the suitability test conducted by the Department of School Education as per norms for service regularization in 2017, the department has neither declared the results nor regularized their services till date, which has compelled them to resort to sit-in-protest and hunger strike.”
NPYC is of the view that when the Department has declared that these 1,166 adhoc teachers are not illegal appointees but were given irregular appointments, all measures should be taken immediately to help them get regularized, NPYC President, Limayangba Lemtur stated in a press release.
With the final exams of schools in the offing, ANATG-2015 Batch agitation is hampering the academic career of thousands of our younger generation for want of course completion throughout the State, it added.
Further, the NPYC said that the government of the day and the department has been citing reasons of standing Court order for their inability to regularize the services of ad-hoc teachers. However, it claimed that “it is an open secret that many departments have been regularizing the services of their ad-hoc employees.”
It also said that the dialogue between ANATG officials and DoSE and the decision of the Nagaland Chief Secretary to form a High Powered Committee (HPC) was appreciated; “But, we are sceptical about the long duration of a year for the HPC to study their case.”
As such, the NPYC appealed to the government and the Department of School Education to take the issue of service regularization of the ad-hoc teachers with utmost importance and urgently defuse the matter so that they can go back to the respective places of posting and impart quality education to the younger generation.
