DIMAPUR, MAY 30 (MExN): The All Nagaland Co-Operative Societies’ Federation (ANCSF) has appreciated the DAN Government for lifting the ban on National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC) sponsored schemes in January, 2005 after a lapse of five years. The ANCSF in its Executive body meeting on May 27 at Kohima has also expressed serious concern over the manner in which the cooperation department particularly the State Level Co-ordination Committee (SLCC) has been handling the process of selection and recommendation of the project proposals submitted by various co-operative societies under NCDC.
‘The SLCC had overlooked to follow the schematic patterns of assistance and the scale of financing by NCDC while selecting or recommending cases and as a result, it has caused irregularities and hardship hampering the process of obtaining sanction,' stated a joint release issued by E.Zuchamo Jami, General Secretary and Povoto Lohe, President ANCSF.
It further stated that 150 cases under NCDC had been returned to the State Co-operation Department for rectification. The ANCSF therefore urged the department to ensure that the projects are formulated or recommended in accordance with the accepted cooperative principles and the quantum of assistance scheme wise adhering to the norms and guidelines of NCDC. It has further requested the department to dispose off those cases already cleared by the SLCC and to take up the remaining cases at the earliest.
The ANCSF has also seriously dwelt on the undue delay in releasing payment to the remaining beneficiary societies under Macro-Management Scheme. “The funds provided under the scheme are meant for weaker sections of societies and it is not political money.” The ANCSF has therefore urged the department of cooperation to release payment to all the beneficiary societies under macro-Management at the earliest without discrimination, partiality or favoritism.
