Immediately after, the union said, three more unidentified persons came to the victim’s residence claiming to “enquire” about the arrest of their “brothers.” 10 minutes later, one of them called over the phone to inform the victim that the former is the “finance secretary” of FGN and that the two arrested persons were ‘their men,’ the union said.
The Chakhro Angami said that the caller has been ‘demanding money’ without the “azha” of “their government” and requested the victim to withdraw the complaint lodged with the police on the assurance that underground outfit would take action against the culprits. “In reply, the victim told the caller to reduce his own assurance and request into writing so that the same will be forwarded to the police for consideration but that was never done,” the Angami organization stated.
The story did not end there. The union stated that for more than 9 times the caller – who identified himself as, “secretary” FGN – rang up to tell the victim to go to the police and release the two arrested persons “and even asking him to pay Rs. 10, 000 to the OC in concern. The said caller threatened the victim by saying that he shall have to pay “all expenditures” required for release extending up to Rs. 1 lakh.
In addition, two more other unidentified persons came to the victim’s residence the same evening. One of claimed himself to the father of one of the arrested culprits, the Angami Kuda stated. They came with something called a “compromise letter” and asked the victim to sign it.
“The victim simply refused to sign the said letter saying that the matter is now lying at the discretion of the police. The said persons left informing the victim that they shall return to his place the next morning at 7AM but they never did, ” the Angami organization stated.
Then again, the following day the victim received another call from someone claiming to be a “captain”. The caller asked the victim why the latter has not yet signed the so asserted “compromise letter.”
Narrating these accounts, the Chakhro Angami Kuda Union has issued a solemn warning that if any untoward incident happens to the victim and his family members in the near future, ‘those involved with the present incident’ shall be held squarely liable and answerable by the organization.
