The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) is all set to observe its 31st Biennial General Conference 2025 under the theme, ‘Prege’ at Khonoma Village from April 4 to 6.
This announcement was made by the organisers and ASU leaders during a press conference at its office on March 24.
The three-day conference will be hosted by the Khonoma Students’ Union (KVSU), a unit Village under Western Angami Students Union.
Speaking of the programme, Organizing Committee Convener, Nienguvotuo Krose, President Khriesamhalie David Mere, members Zekuseto Natso, Vimeyiekho Vitso today said the Special guest of the conference is Jacob Zhimomi, Minister, PHED & Coorperation, Government of Nagaland and Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Government of Nagaland, Salhoutuonuo Kruse as Chief Host of the programme.
Advisor for School Education and SCERT, Government of Nagaland, Kekhrielhoulie Yhome; Former MLA & Advisor & Former ASU President, Medo Yhokha, Assistant Professor, Kohima College, Kohima Dr. Keduolhoulie Belho; Assistant Professor, PG Sazolie College, Jotsoma, Guest Faculty, ATI, Dr. David Sachü; Chairman of NHHDC Ltd, Prasielie Pienyu, Former ASU President High-school Area CRC Pastor, Kohima, Khriezosietuo Kire are among the guests and speakers at the Conference.
The organisers informed that the conference is expecting about 2000 student delegates which are from High-school, College and University level. Apart from that it is also expecting around 500 invitees from other tribal student bodies, Association among others.
During the conference, it was announced that a pledge in the form of a Signature Campaign for preservation, conservation and protection of our environment.
Adopting best practices, the members said that it is endeavoring to make the conference eco-friendly by avoiding single use plastic during the conference. In this regard, the members added that Students delegates are encouraged to bring own water bottles.
Elaborating about the theme that has been adopted, the Organizers said, “Prege is a Tenyidie word meaning ‘to be forerunner in doing any good thing and lead by example’.”
Members for the new tenure to lead Angami Students’ Union (ASU) will also be elected during the conference.
