Dimapur, December 9 (MExN): The All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers Association (ANGPTA), which claims to constitute 65% of the School Education department population with 12,000 plus teachers as members, has accepted and welcomed the new Nagaland School Education Service Rules 2017 and re-structuring of the department.
A press release from ANGPTA Media Cell maintained that the new service rules and cadre review 2017 is “tailor made” and “is free from any discrepancies and discrimination.” Thus, ANGPTA assured the School Education department that it will wholly support the latter to see that the new rules are implemented at the earliest.
For the first time in the history of the department, i.e. after 52 years, the Primary Teachers who are also known as foundation builders of education are included in the service rules, it said. “We were discriminated in many ways as we were never included in the service rules. We were made to retire in the same rank where we were appointed,” the Association highlighted.
The release further noted that the Primary Teachers not only teach in the primary schools but middle schools and high schools as well. “Thus, dissatisfied with the system, the P/Ts formed an Association way back in 2014 under the nomenclature of All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers Association (ANGPTA). The Association has on several occasions submitted representations after representation where the State government understood our grievances,” it said.
Meanwhile, the Association asked the bonafide members to rededicate themselves in their profession and work hard towards imparting quality education. It also requested the members to pray for the dedicated officers who have sacrificed their best for the welfare of the teachers and who were earlier discriminated. The members were further requested to be “mentally and physically prepared for any unforeseen eventuality if any.”
On the other hand, ANGPTA thanked the Minister of School Education Tokheho Yeptho, former Minister Yitachu, and officials of the School Education Department “who worked very hard to bring about a change in the department.”
