ANJEA to begin first phase of protest

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): The All Nagaland Junior Engineers’ Association (ANJEA) comprising of NPWD, PHE and Power Departments has decided to wear black badges for six days starting September 12 as a form of protest against the government’s failure to take action regarding concerns of career progression of Junior Engineers.

A press release from the ANJEA informed that it had submitted representation and subsequent reminder to the Government for the career progression of the Junior Engineers. The Government has formulated the Nagaland Engineering Service Rules in such a way that the Group-B cadre of engineers are deprived of timely promotion to the post of SDO and never get the opportunity for further promotion (i.e. EE and above) as JEs get promotion only on the verge of retirement, it informed.

“So many members have retired without a single promotion and more members are in line due to stagnation. So far, the Government has failed to take any positive steps to address our grievances till date,” it said.

The ANJEA said that the second stage of the protest would be in the form of casual/earned leave if the association does not receive any positive outcome. “The association regrets the inconvenience that may be caused to the public during the process of agitation,” it stated.
