Another arms dealer held, claims AR

Dimapur, November 26 (MExN): The Assam Rifles have claimed the arrest of yet another arms dealer from Dimapur.   According to a defence release, the 32 AR conducted an operation in Kushiabil village in Dimapur on November 24 and apprehended one Puming, 50 years, with one .22 mm pistol, 35 live rounds and “incriminating items”. The accused along with the recovered arms and ammunition was handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.   However, the AR’s dubitable labeling of civilians possessing small firearms as “arms dealer” remains a concern as yet again, no profile of the alleged arms dealer or his modus operandi was given.  

Liquor worth Rs. 2.5 lacs seized

Troops of the 28 Assam Rifles on Friday recovered a large quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) during a search operation in Merapani under Wokha district. A separate defence release informed that the AR troops were conducting a search when it intercepted one vehicle (Bolero) with over 1500 bottles of assorted IMFL and 600 cans of beer. The approximate cost of the seized IMFL amounts to Rs. 2.5 lakhs, the release stated. One Nchbemo Ngullie, 34 years, was arrested as the alleged owner of the liquor.
