There was yet another rockslide in the New Chümoukedima segment of NH 29. According to the police, it occurred sometime after 10:00 am approximately 1.5km from the Chümoukedima police check post towards Kukidolong.
Boulders, loosened by explosives on a cliff, running some 100m across, dislodged blocking the highway.
Four vehicles got caught in the avalanche of huge rock debris, injuring three persons. One was a woman and the other two men. Their conditions were still to be ascertained.
The damaged vehicles included a Mahindra Bolero, Mahindra pickup, Gypsy and Wagon-R.
The police said it would likely take till the afternoon or evening to clear the debris.
