DMAPUR, MAY 22 (MExN): Questioning the Government of India (GoI) for implementation of ceasefire only in Nagaland state, the Arunachal Naga Students Federation (ANSF) has appealed the GoI to implement the ceasefire in entire Naga area including Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
This was contained in a memorandum submitted by the Federation to RN Ravi, Interlocutor for Indo-Naga Peace Talk, GoI during a meeting at his office in Delhi.
The Federation also appraised the GoI to re-amend nomenclature with proper authentic tribes name from “any Naga” which is enacted in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GoI, under schedule VI of serial number X. The federation said that “any Naga” has no meaning without its tribe and said that the Naga people living in Arunachal Pradesh tribe is still not yet recognized in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GoI.
The Federation also strongly opposed the draconian law (AFSPA-1958) which was implemented in 1991 in the area and appealed the GoI to revoke the act, while pointing out that the security forces were misusing the power against the common innocent people rather than ensuring the safety of the people.
Also expressing concern over the lack of development in the three Naga districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding, the Federation has proposed the formation of the “Patkai Territorial Autonomous Council” for the region with self administrative zone.
The Federation also met the top collective leaders of NSCN (IM) at Delhi to apprise on the status of the on-going Indo-Naga peace talk with GoI.
