ANSTA reiterates on taxation

Kohima, May 15 (MExN): The All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) reiterated its earlier stand on taxation issue and directed its members to refrain from paying tax levied by various groups in the name of national workers.

This directive is being re-intimated to all the members of teaching fraternity keeping in view that despite ongoing negotiation on exemption of educational institutions from taxation, many schools have been served with demand letters/notes (giving certain date lines) by the different underground organizations. The noble mission on exempting educational institutions from imposition of tax is jointly carried out by NSF and ENSF supported by all federating units and tribal student’s organization and Hohos, stated a press note issued by ANSTA.

The Association opines that the purpose of negotiation would be a failure and defeated if any school/member pays tax during negotiation process and therefore whatever may be the consequences, it urges all its members to be steadfast on the issue and refrain from paying it till the issue is resolved amicably. Meanwhile, the Association requests to all its units and subunits to tie-up and coordinate with the respective tribal students organization and Hohos for proper implementation of the directive.
