Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) reiterated its demand for making B.Ed degree mandatory for promotion. B.Ed is a must for the department “as the department of School Education is a technical department where the crude human being is transformed into civilized being and this transformation process needs trained personal in the department,” the ANSTA explained in a letter to the Media, received here today.
The Service Rules of the Education department provides that only trained persons be given promotion. The ANSTA stated – “However, when official notification on revamping/restructuring of the deptt issued vide Order No. DSE/RS/2011, Dated 2nd Sept. 2011, to fill-up the restructured posts some non-B.Ed incumbents were given promotion with certain conditions (conditional promotion). As per condition 3, the concerned promotee has to obtain B.Ed degree within three years and condition 4, stated the next promotion will not be considered unless the officer obtains requisite (professional) qualification as per the Service Rules of School Education.”
The association has asked the authorities to take the conditions into consideration while taking up cases of next promotion and that no non-B.Ed be considered for promotion as per the given conditions. “If/when any non B.Ed is promoted in violation of the Department Service Rules, Govt. itself is responsible for violating its own framed rules,” the association said and hoped “that within short period of time” the authority “will not violate its own set rules.”
The ANSTA also asked the department to “properly verify” the authenticity of B.Ed certificates submitted for promotion. “The concerned authority should check and see whether B.Ed certificate obtained is from the recognized university as listed at the back pages of the department service rules.
“The association opines that service rules is like a Holy Book of the department, anyone who defiles its sanctity (out of greed, nepotism, pressure etc.) shall invite the wrath of the association to the extent of closing down of all government schools in the state,” the ANSTA added.
The organization has asked the authorities to “uphold the dignity and sanctity of the department service rules for the welfare of its employees.”
