World No Tobacco Day was observed Hollotoli School and CIHSR on May 31.

Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): World No Tobacco Day was observed Hollotoli School and Break Free Clinic, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) under the theme, ‘We need food, not Tobacco’ on May 31.
At Hollotoli School, Dr Kavito Zhimomi, District Surveillance Officer, Dimapur highlighted the keynotes on anti-tobacco campaign. Speaking on the theme, he stated that the aim of this year theme was to raise awareness on alternative crop production and marketing opportunities for tobacco farmers and encourage them to grow sustainable and nutritious crop.
Dr Kavito informed that ‘Tobacco Free School to Tobacco Free Home’ is a campaign initiated by the State Tobacco Control Cell, Nagaland so that educational institute becomes tobacco free. He stated that the campaign would sensitize the students on the dangers of tobacco, the ill effects of tobacco usage and the negative impact it has on the environment.
He further informed that all educational institutes in Nagaland has been declared as ‘Tobacco Free’ to strengthen tobacco control laws, to reduce easy accessibility of tobacco products to children, to protect the future generation from the full impact of tobacco epidemic.
While at Break Free Clinic, CIHSR, World No Tobacco Day was observed in collaboration with College of Nursing, CIHSR at LG Hall, CIHSR.
Dr Reyosalu Lase Vizo, District Nodal Officer, NTCP, Dimapur gave an exposition on the theme. She also highlighted on the present scenario of tobacco consumption in India and in particular in Nagaland.
During the programme, College of Nursing, CIHSR was also declared a Tobacco Free College. A role play on the theme was also presented by 2nd Year B.Sc Nursing students. The programme concluded with a prayer delivered by Aonuktsung, Chaplain.
