Singapore on the eve of her independence was a just a poor fishing port dotted with slums and squatters. 2013 reports by IMF says it has one of the highest GDP in the world behind Qatar and Luxembourg. Singapore is a multi racial country. How it has transformed into an Economic supergiant, a country with zero natural resources it can be safely labelled as another wonders of the world. The credit is given to its First prime Minister late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. A legendary statesman who steered the ship well.
Japan is another country with zero natural resources but it is a floating industry now. We say Nagaland is landlocked and we don't natural resources. Well learn from these countries, even from a desert country like Israel. Why don't Nagaland look east? Especially the ASEAN Countries. Myanmar in 20 years time will make huge economic strides, we can cash in on that. Plus the other ASEAN Countries like Malaysia, Thailand , Singapore, etc... We have cultural similarities too which is a huge advantage. We even have our giant neighbour China who is sympathetic to us. Slowly after the ASEAN Countries, we can focus on Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.
A lot of things can be suggested even by International experts but it will not work unless we have a Naga Lee Kuan Yew. It is sad but most of our politicians gets into the chair just to disgrace the name of the Nagas. They come into the office just to accumulate wealth. For them the gravy train has arrived if they get elected. Plus we have a very corrupt, inefficient and incompetent Bureaucracy. Lee Kuan Yew built what is called "Meritocracy", a sound, efficient and corruption free Bureaucracy which was the steel frame for his initiative. Naga public is equally corrupt, i'll use the harsh words unpalatable when describing us. We have all sold our souls to Mammon. It will be a joint effort yes but a man like Lee Kuan Yew is needed in Nagaland, a leader who is unselfish, who is visionary, who loves his people more than himself.
Come 2018 election, any Lee Kuan Yew out there ?
Someone who will go down in Naga history for transforming Nagaland into the most developed State in India. Or anyone else still want to be known for looting the State and emptying the coffer. Someone who will always be cursed for perpetuity.
