Mokokchung, July 29 (MExN): In an urgent appeal to the Department of Health & Family Welfare, the Ao Senden has highlighted a critical issue impacting the healthcare system in Mokokchung District and its surrounding areas. The representation, addressed to the Principal Director of Health & Family Welfare through the Chief Medical Officer of Mokokchung, underscored the potential negative consequences of recent transfers of key medical personnel from Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH).
The Ao Senden's detailed the transfer and posting of several medical and dental officers across Nagaland. Particularly troubling for the residents of Mokokchung are the transfers from IMDH of Dr. Epibeni L. Humtsoe, Junior Specialist, to Wokha without any replacement; Dr. Martula Lemtur, Junior Specialist, promoted and transferred as DPO (CD-I) in Mokokchung, but without a replacement at IMDH; and Dr. Sutsubgkokla Imchen, Junior Specialist, transferred out to Dimapur without a replacement.
IMDH, the primary healthcare provider for Mokokchung District and neighboring regions, is already experiencing a shortage of medical officers, the Ao Senden stated. It added that the departure of these three specialists without immediate replacements will exacerbate this shortage, potentially crippling healthcare services in the area.
The Ao Senden argued that the absence of these medical professionals will detrimentally affect the quality and availability of medical care for the local population. It stated that these officers should not be allowed to leave their current posts until suitable replacements are appointed.
Marsanen Imsong, President of Ao Senden, and Imtipokyim, General Secretary, jointly signed the representation, requesting that the Principal Director give this matter top priority and delay the transfers until replacements are in place.
