Ao Senden, the apex body of the Ao Naga community, held its 22nd General Conference at the Town Hall Mokokchung where new office bearers of the Ao Senden were elected.

The new office bearers of the Ao Senden (2024-2026) includes: President-Marsanen Imsong, Merangkong (Langpangkong Range), Vice President-Aowati Ozükum, Süngratsü (Asetkong Range), General Secretary - Advocate Imtipokyim, Longkhum (Ongpangkong range), Assistant General Secretary-Bendangnukshi, Nokpu (Japukong), Finance Secretary-Yanger Pongen, Mongchen, (Jangpetkong) and Treasurer- Lanupokyim, Longpayimsen, (Tsurangkong).

Addressing the conference, Alemtemshi Jamir, IAS (RTD) and former Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland delivered an exhortation. He began his speech by reminding the audience that the Aos are creative, progressive, open-minded, generous, tolerant, democratic, legalistic, and liberal, but that despite all of these innate positive qualities, the Aos are at a crossroads, torn between growing with the dimensions of the advancing world and adhering to old and traditional norms and belief systems.

He went on to say that the key to moving forward is to “reform and re-structure” society and individuals via discipline, trust, accountability, and quality control. Furthermore, he suggested organising a forum of specialists and intellectuals to discuss and consult on reforming and restructuring agriculture, economy, industry, tourism, and cultural civilisation.

General Secretary, Ao Riju, Audit and nomination reports were read out which was followed by speech from the outgoing president Chubawati Longchar and speech from the new elected president Marsanen Imsong.

Councils from all the villages of the six ranges of the Ao Naga community under Mokokchung district attended the general conference.
