DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 14 (MExN): The Ao Senden today said the present movement of the people should not be challenged by any political party or individual and warned those doing so “will not be left unpunished.” It said that Nagas have been practicing their own system of administration based on customary laws, practices and traditions and that these inherent rights cannot be subjudiced or overruled by any one. It maintained that this movement “should not be misconstrued as political or under the instigation of any person, but purely a people’s movement to protect the inherent rights sacredly safeguarded by the blood and tears of our forefathers.” It demanded that any leader who goes against the voice of the people should relinquish their position and appealed to all political leaders/legislators to “withdraw support to the person who has lost the faith of its people.” It further discouraged issuing statement which are against the call of the Ao’s, warining strong action against defaulters.
