Aphuyemi FC remained unbeatable in the 2nd Nagaland State Futsal championship 2022, winning all the five matches in the tournament to lift the trophy.

Aphuyemi FC Zunheboto defeated Proper V FC Mon by 10-6 in the final match to lift the 2nd Nagaland State Futsal championship played here at Reiphinyü Badze Vürie, Kohima.

Earlier gracing the closing ceremony as the special guest, Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) secretary general Abu Metha said Nagas need to develop their own style of gameplay and improve it to be able to compete with players from other parts of the world.

Highlighting the versatility of football, he said the game could be designed to match the physique and mental capabilities of players all across the globe depending on their unique features.

He urged football experts in the state to put their minds together and bring out a practical style suitable for the Naga players.

He assured full support from the government and also the Nagaland Olympic Association to develop football in the state with the help and support of concerned associations like Nagaland Football Association.

Aphuyemi FC received Rs. 1 lakh along with citations while runner-up Proper V FC got Rs 50,000.

The losing semi finalists were Vanguard FC Tseminyu and Nimok Power FC Phek.

Aphuyemi FC will now represent Nagaland in the upcoming national Futsal championship which will be held in the month of November.

The three- day championship was organised by Nagaland Football Association and hosted by Kohima District Football Association.
