Aphuyemi Football Cup: Wins for Chisholimi & Pughoboto

DIMAPUR, MARCH 4 (MExN): MLA, Y Vikheho Swu inaugurated the 2nd Aphuyemi Football Cup on March 3 at Pughoboto Local Ground.
The first match on Wednesday was played between United FC Chisholimi beat Asukiqa Area FC 2-1.
Viboto Wotsa from Asukiqa Area FC scored the first goal at 5th minute and Inito Awomi of United FC Chisholimi equalized the goal at 34th minute. In the 44th minute, Piketo Kiho scored the winning goal for his team United FC Chisholimi.
In the next match, Pughoboto Town Club beat Shining Star Club Lazaro 1-0. Bovika from Pughoboto Town scored at the 29th minute.
The last match of the day saw Kichilimi FC and Mishilimi FC play out a 1-1 draw.
Neikhezo and Into scored a goal each at 12th minute and 14th minutes respectively.
The tournament is being organized by the Aphuyemi Football Club under the aegis of Sumi Games and Sports Association (SAGSA). All together 11 teams participated from various villages under Pughoboto Sub-Division. During the opening programme, Swu told the participants that they should not participate merely to represent the club but strive hard to elevate the club and to make the village and area proud.
He spoke of people who were employed in the Police Department in the past through football. The MLA however lamented that recently there has not been anyone from the area who has been able to earn their livelihood through sports.
Swu also urged the Sumi Aphuyemi Teachers Welfare Organization (SATWO) to restart the government schools U-12 tournament and tap the talents of the young talent.
He urged the citizens of Pughoboto to support the club, find sponsorships and the parents of the athletes to support their children. He meanwhile advised the players to judiciously use the infrastructure that is available, for instance the newly constructed Pughoboto Stadium and the renovated Badminton Stadium.
