
Dimapur, June 19 (MExN): The Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights and the Angami People’s Organisation today appealed to the militant group Karbi People Liberation Tigers (KPLT) to safely release two Naga workers reportedly abducted by the group on June 10. The two organizations issued a joint press release today for the safe release of Kelesel Kikhi and Khroviho Kikhi who were abducted along with others on demand of a percentage from Lungnip Hydro project site. “The two organisations believe in the basic human rights values of freedom of movement and work on which principles urges the KPLT to consider the rights and adhere to the human values. It believes that through dialogue issues and misunderstanding could be resolved amicably,” the NPMHR and APO stated.
The psychological and emotional trauma that the kith and kin of the abducted persons “is going through is a genuine worry,” the press release stated. “We humbly request the KPLT to release the abductees at the earliest. The organisation also express its sincere gratitude to the Karbi civil society organisation for the help and assistance rendered so far while soliciting to continue building bridges to bring the issue to a logical conclusion.”
The company and its proprietor P Das is also urged to be “mature in its approach” to resolve the hostage issue at the earliest.
