Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Longleng, K Libanthung Lotha has written to the Chief Engineer (National Highway), Kohima for immediate maintenance of Changtongya-Longleng and Merangkong-Tamlu road.
The DC Longleng has stated that the road was undertaken under SARDP-NE by M/S Maytas-Gayatri Pvt Ltd and halted in the month of May 2012 even before fully completing the earth cutting and widening.
He stated that during rainy season starting from May 2013, it will be quite difficult to ply heavy and medium vehicles which will certainly effect transportation of passengers and essential commodities as these are the only two roads which is the life line for Longleng district. In addition, he stated that there are no machineries, nor man powers or official presents in the roads for maintenance of the roads and the people are facing acute problems especially between Changtongya and Longleng as of now.
Further, the officials of the construction company could not be contacted as none of the Company officials are present in the location and all their contact numbers are found not in use.
Therefore, the DC Longleng has requested the Chief Engineer (National Highway), Kohima to initiate to address the problems at the earliest.
