AR apprehends three armed cadres

The Assam Rifles, in three separate incidents, have apprehended three persons in possession of weapons and for “extortion activities.”  

According to the PRO-IGAR (North), a GPRN/NSCN cadre was apprehended on May 2 by personnel of the 29 Assam Rifles in Dimapur. It said that “based on specific information,” an operation was launched by troops of the 29 Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sect AR, during which the cadre was apprehended from Super Market, near Saramati Hotel in Dimapur. He was in possession of one 7.65mm pistol and assorted ammunition. The individual has been identified as H Akato Zhimo (33). The apprehended individual was later handed over to the East Police Station, Dimapur, informed the PRO-IGAR (North).

In a separate incident, based on specific information, a search operation was launched by troops of 37 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sect AR, and an armed miscreant was apprehended near NIT Complex, Chumukedima. The person has been identified as Longri Anthony Yimchunger (26). He was held in possession of one .22 automatic pistol, live rounds and two fired cases. On questioning, the individual revealed that he was carrying the weapon with the purpose of selling it, the PRO-IGAR (North) said.  Subsequently, on search of his house, three barrels of a .22 rifle were also recovered. The individual was handed over to Diphupar Police Station along with recovery, it added.

Meanwhile personnel of the 11 Assam Rifles apprehended one FGN cadre for “extortion. The PRO identified the apprehended as one Acii Vadeo (37), who was “collecting tax” from civil loaded trucks at Mission Colony Pfutsero town. On searching the individual, a cash amount of Rs. 13750 was recovered. The individual along with recovered items have been handed over to the police and an FIR has been lodged at Pfutsero Police station, the PRO added.
