Imphal, January 14 (MExN): 6 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) has carried out a cleanliness drive at Singjamei Chingmathak and the adjoining areas of the Company Operating Base in conjunction with the Meirapaibis of the locality. The cleanliness drive was organised in view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations and to thwart any untoward incident occurring in the locality, stated a press release from PRO, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South). In addition to cleaning of the area, the drive was aimed at bringing awareness among the locals about importance of cleanliness, proper waste disposal, usage of toilets and no use of polythenes, it added. A total of 40 persons from the Singjamei Company Operating Base and 35 Meirapaibis participated in the cleanliness drive. Meanwhile, the medical team of 31 Assam Rifles conducted a demonstration on first aid and paramedics in the remote village of Aishi at a local Church on January 14, 2018. Basic first aid in case of fractures, head injury, burns, snake bite and other similar incidents were demonstrated. The locals were advised on ill effects of excessive liquor consumption and substance abuse, the release informed. It was followed by a medical camp wherein requisite medical advice and treatment was administered. The camp was organised to provide medical succor to the remote villages near Indo Myanmar Border where no medical infrastructure exists, the press release added.
