Kohima, September 3 (MExN): With an aim to reach out to the Assam Rifles ex-servicemen residing in four districts of Phek, Wokha, Kiphire and Kohima, IGAR (North) conducted an ex-servicemen rally in Kohima on September 1. The event included stalls manned by representatives of Pension Cell, Record Branch, Pay and Allowance Office, Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA), State Bank of India and AXIS Bank, according to a press release from Assam Rifles.
Additional stalls on Aadhaar, CSD Field Post Office were also established to provide on the spot Aadhaar Cards/ Canteen Smart Cards, educate ex-servicemen about finance/investment schemes and apprise them of employment opportunities for themselves and their dependents. A general grievance cell was also established to register and provide assistance regarding on the spot issues. A medical and dental camp was also conducted, where Ortho Specialist, Surgical Specialist, Dentist and Gynecologist were made available and free medicine were disbursed.
Brigadier Rajiv Nanda, Deputy Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) was the chief guest at the rally. Brigadier MS Bains, SC, YSM, SM, Commander 5 Sector Assam Rifles and other Assam Rifles personnel were in attendance. Cultural events and felicitation of Veer Naris/ Gallantry Award Winner/ War Veterans were the highlights of the event.
