Kohima, October 11 (MExN): The Dimapur Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (North) organised a 10-Day National Integration Tour (NIT) to Gujarat for the students of Dimapur and Chumukedima districts (Nagaland) from September 30-October 10.
The NIT, held with the aim of providing the students of Nagaland an exposure to various educational & industrial institutions, was flagged-off on September 29 College by Brigadier Sachinder Tiwari, Commander, 6 Sector Assam Rifles in the presence of civil dignitaries, GBs, professors and students.
A total of 16 students and two professors from Tetso College and St Joseph University participated in the tour.
As per a press release from the PRO, HQ IGAR (N), participating students and professors visited IIM Ahmedabad, Statue of Unity, NIFT Gandhinagar, Reliance Refinery, Ahmedabad Science City, Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition Centre, Sabarmati Ashram, Akshardham Temple & Narara Marine Park.
En-route, the students also visited India Gate and National War Memorial in New Delhi.
During the tour, the students got an opportunity to witness a demonstration by the elite National Security Guards (NSG) and an equipment display by 18 Maratha Light Infantry Battalion as well as interacted with Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat on October 6.
The touring team was flagged off by Major General Vikas Lakhera, IGAR (North) at St Joseph University on October 11. The event was attended by local administration officials, college staff and approx imately1000 students, according to the press release.
