Kohima, July 26 (MExN): The Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) Kohima has carried out various activities across Nagaland in the recent past, a press release from PRO HQ IGAR (N) informed.  

HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles: The sector  carried out tree plantation drives in Kohima, Wokha, Phek and Kiphire districts on July 25 under the theme ‘Save Nature Save Future’.

 As part of the initiative, a total of 14035 saplings were planted, the release said, adding that drive was organised with strict compliance to social distancing & COVID protocols with the aim of creating a better environment and Greener India.

Jalukie Battalion: The battalion organised a friendly volleyball match with Jalukie B Youth Club at Heningkunglwa, Peren district on July 25. The sports meet was aimed at promoting harmony between the youth and security forces after the COVID-19 lockdown, the release said.

The Jalukie Battalion also organised a equipment and weapon display for the NCC Cadets of Peren district on occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 25.

“An interactive session was also organised post the display to educate the cadets on the importance of the day and also to make them aware about various entry schemes available with them to join the armed forces,” the release said. 

A total of 40 NCC cadets from Peren Govt College, Govt High School, Baptist High School and All Saints High School attended the event, it added.
