AR nexus with rivals alleged

Virtually taking up the cudgel against the Assam Rifles and questioning the commitment of its Director General Lt. General Paramjit Singh who had recently stated that the ‘continued factional killings might mar the ongoing peace process’, the NSCN (IM) in a hard hitting statement pointed out that the Assam Rifles being a paramilitary force of the Government of India should speak like a party to the ceasefire and the peace process.

“DGAR Lt General Paramjit Singh has great fear that factional killings may mar the peace process. Such doubtful comment over ones commitment from figure like DGAR is very shameful and unfortunate”, an MIP press communiqué received here stated and added that ‘by giving doubtful comments over the GoI’s commitment on peace process, the DGAR has demoralized the GoI’.

The NSCN (IM) charged that this comment from the DGAR was a ‘calculated’, ‘concocted before hand’ and “finely synchronized with the happening in the surrounding where unthinkable developments like supplying weapons and ammunitions to the Khaplang group and the NNC/FGN are being witnessed”. The allegation was explained by pointing out that the recent hauls of ammunition recovered from the NSCN-K  and NNC/FGN cadres were ‘brand new supply’.

“To further corroborate these facts, Inshas guns supplied only to the Indian Armed Forces have reached the Khaplang group and the NNC/FGN”, the NSCN (IM) claimed.
Moreover, it was alleged that the Government of India had also been passing on information to the NSCN (K) and the NNC/FGN leaders on the ongoing peace meetings officially scheduled to discuss on upkeep of ceasefire and other agreements.

The NSCN (IM) pointed out thus that it is crystal clear whatever is happening between the Assam Rifles and the NSCN (K) or NNC/FGN was a total breach of the agreed Ceasefire Ground Rules signed between the Government of India, the NSCN (IM) stated while referring to one of the incorporated points of agreement in the revised text of Agreed Ground Rules for Ceasefire finalized between the GoI and NSCN (IM) on January 13, 2001.

“It is mutually agreed that no safe haven or sanctuary or assistance to any armed group or elements will be provided by anyone. No new armed forces post would be set up within two Kms of a designated camp”, the NSCN (IM) quoted from the January 13, 2001 agreement and alleged that working in tandem with them against the GPRN/NSCN is a direct assault to the Agreed Ceasefire Ground Rules. “Most importantly it is a blatant challenge to the strong wish and will of the Nagas in general to give peace a chance”.
