Kohima, October 21 (MExN): Phusachodu Union, Kohima (PUK) has accused Assam Rifles jawans of raiding its member’s house, harassing the family, and stealing from the house.
A press statement from Besuyi Medeo, president, PUK recounted that on the night of October 19, the AR jawans along with four persons in civil dress with black mask and also one Nagaland Police personnel as guide came to the house of its member, Rudasa Curhah, at Jail Colony, Kohima and raided it without any reason.
Describing Curhah as “one of the best citizens, right thinking person, innocent, honest, helpful to needy people, selfless, and having social zeal with tireless effort to help our village community in every rightful initiative,” the union expressed surprise that they “raided his house without any reason and badly harassed the family.”
“There is no point or reason of house raid of Rudasa Curhah, but we considered it as individuals’ self interest for facilitating theft and pocketing, but not genuine security duty,” it maintained.
“This house raid of innocent persons by the AR jawans was a matter of terrorizing the innocent citizens, and they committed nuisance to innocent people, violated the Right to Personal Liberty of living and privacy of life against their family, committed guilt of house trespass, harassment to innocent and children, and also committed offence of theft (stolen 5 Nos. ATM card),” it added.
The AR authority, the union stated, considers themselves to be the Friends of the Hill People, “but the AR Jawans were no more friends to the Hill People, since they used to create bad law and order situation by themselves and disturbing the innocent citizens living in peaceful life at Kohima.”
In this regard, the members of Phusachodu Union, Kohima have demanded that all the AR jawans, including the Duty Commander, involved in the case be immediately dismissed from service without delay for committing criminal offences.
Also, they requested the Superintendent of Police, Kohima to handover the identity of the four persons with black mask who came with the AR jawans to the Phusachodu Union at the earliest.
