AR terms NSCN (IM)’s allegation as ‘malicious narrative’

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 2 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has rejected the allegation made by the NSCN (IM) to the August 29 incident in the hands of the 43rd Assam Rifles manned security check gate at Doyapur en-route to Hebron Camp.

In a rebuttal, the AR termed it as ‘malicious narrative’ initiated by NSCN (IM) to tarnish the image of the force which has been the security provider in the North-eastern region for years.

The AR claimed that on August 29, an input was received regarding movement of armed cadres in general area Doyapur village. Hence, a motor vehicle check post was established at 4:10 PM.

During the course of action, a suspected white Mahindra Bolero bearing registration number MN 08 A 0772 was noticed approaching the check post. During the search of the vehicle two suspected individuals were found in possession of unaccounted money Rs 10, 61,000, the AR alleged.

The cadres of NSCN (IM) revealed that they were going to GHQ, Hebron for submission of the illegal extortion money collected from Senapati District of Manipur. Such belligerent act of possession of such huge extortion money by cadres is a blatant violation of the Cease Fire Ground Rules, it further alleged.

As such, the AR said the allegation made by the NSCN (IM) “is an attempt to malign the image of Assam Rifles which has always been in the forefront to enforce Cease Fire Ground Rules and stop nefarious activities of armed groups.”

It maintained that the AR remains “committed to being the sentinels of peace and will not let any faction vitiate the security milieu and ensure people friendly operations to remain committed to the Motto of Friends of the North East People and to the peace process initiated by Government of India.”
