Araria-Galgalia rail line clears final safety check, set for launch

Maligaon, July 12 (MExN): The 110.75-km Araria-Galgalia broad gauge railway project has crossed its final hurdle with the successful completion of statutory safety inspections, paving the way for full operations. Commissioner of Railway Safety Sumeet Singhal conducted the comprehensive inspection from July 9 to 11, clearing the strategically important route for passenger and freight services.

The project, a flagship initiative of Northeast Frontier Railway, achieves completion with this authorization after phased commissioning - the Araria-Araria Court-Rahamatpur section (8.24 km) opened in April 2024, followed by the Pawakhali-Thakurganj stretch (23.24 km) in November 2024. The final 79.77 km Rahamatpur-Pawakhali segment has now been approved for operations at 100 kmph maximum speed.

Engineered with 64 major bridges, 264 minor bridges and 15 new stations, the line promises to transform regional connectivity across Bihar and neighbouring areas. Railway officials confirmed the infrastructure is now ready to enhance passenger mobility and freight movement, potentially boosting economic activity in the region.

This was stated in an update from Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
